Justin's Update 15

<<...>> <<...>>

Well .... 4 done J and 8 to go! Justin is feeling much better after treatment with the new nausea meds but was VERY nauseous during treatment this time. We think it’s because the way they administered the chemo was done in a different order than usual due to the pharmacy being busy.

We find it very encouraging being in the Sunflower ward and meeting different people and hearing their stories. We have met a few brave young children too that are finishing up treatment for leukaemia and it’s always so great to see their amazing attitudes (and those of the parents)

The nursing staff in the haematology ward are absolutely fantastic! They are so professional at what they do but also so caring and fun to chat too – joking and making you feel at ease. We really thank God for giving us an awesome team. Other awesome news is that Justin’s WBC was 4.7 this week which is a great improvement on the last 2 chemo’s!

We are very aware that going into winter there are more bugs and germs going around. So for this reason ... the 1st 5-6 days after chemo, Justin “hibernates” so as to build up new white blood cells.  We are keeping ourselves busy though ..... watching dvd’s on the lap-top in bed, eating (healthy) munchies J reading and sleeping.

This is a very encouraging verse we were sent this week from 1 Peter 1:6-7 (NLT)

"So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.
So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world."

Oh, that we might know the Lord!  Let us press on to know Him!  Then He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring. Hosea 6:3

We had a great time away in Struisbaai last weekend, was great to relax and recover (thank you to the du Toit’s for the use of your house!) this week jenny’s cousin’s arrived from Australia. They have unfortunately not been able to stay with us due to increased risk of infection but it’s been great to catch up with them when we were able. We have Stu and Aingy’s wedding this weekend and are looking forward to the next couple of STRONG days! Planning to go away with Dean and Nicky for the long weekend at the end of AprilJ so really looking forward to that – to just chill and have some fun!

Thank you all for your continued prayer, support, love and messages! We feel greatly encouraged and strengthened! We are constantly aware of our daily need to humble ourselves before the Lord and ask Him for His strength to get us through the day. And He is faithful in providing all that we need for that day. 1 day at a time!

All our love

Justin and jenny
