update 12 and pics!

We had a great evening out with friends at Madame Zingara on Wednesday night which was a wonderful way to end our 2 week cycle.

3rd chemo on Thursday and Praise God white cell count was 4.1! (last session was 3.3 so this is an improvement)
Justin feeling much better after chemo than last time. Different nausea
tablets (4 different kinds) and this seems to have helped.

You will see in one of the pics, the bright red chemo. Justin is on a
treatment called ABVD - Adriamycin, Bleomycin, Vinblastine and Dacarbazine, These all have different functions. We thank God for the wisdom given to
Doctors and researchers in putting these things together.

We are getting used to our new way of life! God is good! And we feel constantly surrounded by your prayers - each one is appreciated! Thank you to, to our faithful friends and great cooks! (we have had some delicious meals!) we are still juicing every day ..... one of the new ones is celery, tomato, carrots and spinach! Yummy! (no, really ... they are very good and tasty, justin has even added salt and pepper to a few)

We are planning on a weekend away to Struisbaai this weekend, lots of
reading, walking and recovering! Looking forward to a good time of fun and
relaxing!

I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and withall your strength and with all your mind .. (Luke 10:27 NIV)

We have been greatly encouraged by Louis Giglio's dvd's "Indescribable" and "Alive" that shows us just how small we really are and just how HUGE God really is! It is so important to be reminded of this and to know "all things are possible to Him who believes"

We love you all - thank you for standing with us and encouraging us so! We know God has awesome plans for us and while we wait on Him we thank Him for the many blessings He has already given us ... and we wait in eager anticipation!

Justin's Story 11

Hi All

Justin has had a good Easter Weekend. His first six days were not great, but by last Tuesday afternoon he was starting to feel good again and from Wednesday he was back at 90% power again! The Thursday and Friday after treatment had been better than the same days after the first round.

We are back at Thursday again and tomorrow is the day! We ask all to pray at 6:30pm tonight. This week we will not meet at my home so we ask you all to stop at that time and lift him in your prayer.

Please pray specifically for the white cell count to be high enough for treatment to continue, for an even milder reaction to treatment, and for the treatment to be destroying all the bad cells in the body. We know Gods plan for him is complete healing and we trust this is now being worked out.

Thanks again to all those who have been praying for him.

Please also still remember to stay away if you have colds or flu or other viruses!!

Love

Justin's Story 10

Hi All

The past month has been hectic and very upside down BUT we are confident of the following: God is in total control of this situation and of our lives, He is faithful and is good! And we trust Him completely. We have had to make certain changes in our daily lives, like ... working from home more often, as it's more comfortable and we are trying to stay away from flu germs, we are drinking a lot more "green things" like our daily smoothie of spinach, cucumber, pineapple and grapes to boost the immune system. We are also slowing down on our social life, who we see and what we are involved in.
Sleep is one of the greatest immune boosters so this is important as well.

Justin has his next chemo this week Thursday. We pray for a good platelet and white blood count as well as little side effects the 5 days that follow.

We are so amazed at the support we have been given over the past few weeks.
Sms's, E-mails, cards, e-mails, meals etc etc. We love you all and so appreciate the encouragement and prayers. We know God hears each one. We feel so grateful to have our 2 families around us who all believe in our one true God and who stand so close to us - what would we do without you?? Thank you for the hugs and loves - you are the best!!!

We have felt the peace that passes all understanding, especially during all the hospital visit's and results, but also at night when it's just the 2 of us and we draw on strength from God. We hold onto His promises for our lives and we need to be obedient and faithful to Him during this time. The comfort is that while this certainly took us by surprise, it didn't take God by surprise. He knows every moment of our lives and so we continue to put our trust in Him and know he holds our every moment!

The 2 pics attached were taken on our recent trip to a trade fair in Germany (January 2008)

Love to you all

" For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and say's to you, Do not fear, I will help you" Isaiah 41:13

Interesting thing about valleys. That's where the best food is, that's where the land is the richest, where there is protection from the winds whipping up above on the mountain.. Valleys are great places to walk "through". It's a valley, not an alley. God will make the way through for you. And what a journey it will be!

Remember we will have prayers at Denis’s house on Wednesday 12 at 6:30.

Justin's Story 9

Justin has had a good end to the week. He started off quite tired on Monday and Tuesday but by Wednesday was spending the whole day up and about. Also Monday and Tuesday were the days that he felt quite nauseous. His cough has gone away since the first treatment! Thank you Lord. They have been sleeping well again with no night sweats.

The beauty with technology is that you can really work from anywhere these days – even the beach!! No, he is not working from the beach - yet!! There were a couple of folk in his office who were sick this week, so he thought it wise to stay away and work from home. This also allows you to have a different perspective of things and often helps your planning!

They are planning an evening with Dean and Nicky tonight and going out into the country sometime tomorrow. They plan church on Sunday morning before going off to watch Peter and Chris ride the 120km Argus Cycle Tour!!

Thanks again to all those who have been praying for him. Please continue to pray that God will bring about complete healing in his body with minimal side effects.

Please also still remember to stay away if you have colds or flu or other viruses!!

We will have prayers at our house on Wednesday 12 at 6:30 before he goes for his next treatment on Thursday.
